Camp Totokett is a free one-week summer day camp for children in grades K-8 from the Greater New Haven area. It is held annually at Killam’s Point in Branford, CT, on waterfront property owned by the First Congregational Church of Branford. Campers are paired one-on-one with high school or college Mentor who supports them in activities including fishing, swimming, arts and crafts, kayaking, scavenger hunts, camp-wide talent shows, and everyone's favorite Birthday Day!Mentors receive 40 hours of community service! Volunteer Call for Guilford Pride Event – May 17th, 2025 We're seeking volunteers to help make our Guilford Pride Event a success on May 17th, 2025! Whether it's setting up, breaking down, or assisting in the youth area, we’d love your help. Hours are flexible, so you can volunteer based on your schedule. An event that brings together volunteers who offer their skill to make simple repairs of everyday and treasured items. It's a wonderful way to lend a hand to neighbors and reduce what goes in our landfills. Categories of repairs: electrical - small appliances, lamps; electronics; mechanical - clocks, toys, bicycles; Jewelry - tangles, clips, soldering; sewing - hems, tears, buttons; tool sharpening; computer; wooden items - boxes, chairs. The Cafe offers free hospitality if you must wait your turn. Co-sponsored with Sustainable Guilford. Repeat session in the fall in Guilford. This event is in conjunction with Branford Community Gardens vegetable seedlings sale. The Garden Club sells perennial divisions, shrubs and trees, native plants, summer bulbs, pollinator-friendly perennials and annuals, and vases of cut flowers from members' gardens. Children can plant summer annuals to take home. Free tree saplings (usually Dogwoods) are given away. Master Gardeners are on hand to answer questions and identify plants. Help is needed setting up (and taking down) tables, loading the tables with plants, helping customers take purchased plants to their cars.
