Legacy Theatre is always seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join our team of Parking Ambassadors! Parking Ambassadors greet patrons as they are arriving at the theatre and assist them in finding parking. This may include directing traffic on the main road in front of the theatre, pointing out the locations of our accessible parking and overflow lots, and answering patron questions. Please note, this role does not require you to actually drive/park any cars yourself! Mentors are paired one-on-one with our campers to ensure their safety and fun the week of camp. Mentors serve as role models for our campers by modeling and actively participating in all camp programming including fishing, kayaking, swimming, arts and crafts, and more. Connecticut Hospice Homecare Volunteers have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of patients who have terminal illnesses. The type of homecare visits are as follows:Respite: Sit with patient while caregiver runs errands, has doctor appointments, etc. This will be in a private home.Enrichment: Many patients are very lonely and would like to talk, play cards, have a book or newspaper read to them, etc. They may be in a skilled nursing facility, assisted living or private home. The library offers volunteer opportunities in our Circulation department, organizing and shelving Adult Fiction and Nonfiction collections. Van drivers will begin by riding along with one of our current drivers to learn the routes and procedures. Estimated time involved: 1-2 hours per day. Requirements: valid CT drivers license, the ability to lift heavy boxes (possibly 50 lbs.), and the ability to make a commitment to a regular schedule.

The Y’s Safety Around Water program teaches children of all ages and from all backgrounds that water can be fun, not scary. Knowing how to be safe around water is one of the most important life skills we can teach our children - it gives them confidence, and can save their lives. Our Tails to Trails program is a dog walking program that offers volunteers the opportunity to bring our shelter dogs to off-site trail locations approved by staff and our dog trainer!In order to become a Tails to Trails volunteer, you must complete our volunteer orientation program in addition to 2 Dog Handling and Safety Classes with our staff dog trainer. You also must be 25 years of age with your own transportation to participate. The BFD is always accepting applications for new volunteer members interested in Fire and EMS Services. You are  welcome to apply if you are a town resident or live in an adjacent town. Adult members must have a CT Drivers License and be over 18. You will need to complete an analog/written application  and then pass a simple background check and physical to be approved. As the Branford Microfund continues to grow, we need more funds to provide loans to more members of the community. If you have connections with Branford based businesses, we could use your help in spreading the word about how the Microfund is here to help local Branford residents. Experience in event planning would be helpful as our future plans include the development of a gala and golf tournament.

Socializers are charged with working with feral cats or those having difficulty adjusting to life at the shelter. It involves working quietly and patiently in prescribed ways with those cats that have been designated as potentially difficult to adopt. This is done only under supervision of and as scheduled by the socializing coordinator. A Swim Instructor Aid is responsible for assuring the safety, well being and enjoyment of all participants in his or her class.  The Aid is responsible for assisting assigned instructors as they prepare and teach classes in accordance with YMCA of the USA guidelines and procedures. This includes but is not limited to demonstrating and correcting individuals so that they learn to the best of their ability and monitoring the environment to ensure that is safe for participants. As an instructor aide, you will be learning how to teach and interact with young children in a responsible manner.  You will closely work with instructors to help young swimmers learn new skills and enjoy the water.

Produce a show!At BCTV, we proudly offer state-of-the-art equipment for you to produce your own television show, at no cost! Whether you want to produce a talk show, documentary, cover a local sporting event or anything else you think would be of interest to the public, give us a call at 203-481-3232. ​​We'd be glad to help explain all there is to know about public access cable television. In addition to training you on use of equipment, show planning and pre-production, actual shooting, and post-production, we'll familiarize you with all applicable Federal and State laws and regulations, as well as BCTV's By-Laws, Policies, Rules & procedures.
